А транскрипт этой сцены где-нибудь есть?
Orient Express. Mason strolls up to Julia bearing a picnic basket.
Julia: (surprised) I thought you'd left.
Mason: No, I was in the kitchen shamelessly using my family connections. I pursuaded the chef to put together a little supper.
Julia: For whom?
Mason: Well, I was hoping that you and a certain young lady and I could have sort of a picnic. (opens the basked and pulls out a huge bag of Christmas decorated animal crackers) These are for Samantha.
Julia smirks, amused. However, she doesn't think the temptation of a picnic with Mason is particularly wise.
Julia: You should have asked me first.
Mason: (shrugs) I'm asking you now.
Julia: No, you're not. You put together this picnic basket and you're expecting me to be so charmed by you that I can't say 'no'.
Mason nods, admitting the truth of his plot.
Mason: Doesn't Samantha like animal crackers?
Julia: She loves the animal crackers. (sighs) And I know that you went to a lot of trouble, but I'm sorry, we can't have dinner with you tonight.
Julia dashes for the door to escape further questioning, but Mason doesn't allow it.
Mason: (knowingly jealous) Oh, you have plans with somebody else. Why did you lie to me before?
Julia: (mildly exasperated) I'm not lying to you, we just can't have dinner with you.
Mason: Well, why? I don't understand.
Julia: (sighs, reluctant) All right. Because Victoria and Chip are gone and you're lonely . . . and Samantha and I don't want to be your substitute family.
Mason: That's not fair. Neither of you is a substitute anything.
Julia: All right, all right, all right -- we're not your substitute anything. Well, what are we? Where do we fit in? (waits, but Mason doesn't respond) See, you can't answer that, can you? (gently) Mason, I can't allow you to just walk in and out of our lives whenever it suits you. It's not fair to us. We're not supposed to want anything, we're not supposed to expect anything, and we're not supposed to commit to anything. We're just supposed to be patient until you come back again. I can't do that anymore. We can't do that anymore . . . and we don't want to pretend that it's okay anymore. I'm sorry.
Julia turns and leaves hastily as Mason stares after her, suddenly very lonely.
