Gina: Hi, Tom.
Tom: Listen, I need a-- I need a huge favor. Could you help me out? I-I need it real fast, too.

Ashley: So what's all this?
Tom: Well, I got you these flowers to kind of apologize for being such a jerk.
Ashley: Hmm. Well, you didn't have to go to all this trouble.
Tom: No, well, you're wrong there. I mean, a woman like you deserves the extra effort. Please sit down.
Tom: I hope you don't mind. I, uh, I went ahead and, uh, I ordered lobster and fennel.
Ashley: Yeah, I can see that. How did you know they were my favorite?
Tom: Well, I guess we must be on the same wavelength, huh? To our friendship.
Ashley: (Sighs) you know what? I meant what I said.
Tom: Ashley... I heard what you said, and it will never happen again. You have my word.

Ashley: Tom, hi.
Tom: I didn't realize you had company.
Ashley: Oh, he's not company. He's my ex-husband.
Tom: Ah.
Ashley: Tom, this is Brad. Brad, Tom.
Brad: How are you?
Tom: Nice to meet you.
Brad: Good to finally put a face with the name.
Tom: Oh, Ashley's told you about me, huh?
Brad: Well, we're very good friends.
Tom: Oh.
Brad: I better be on my way. Nice to meet you.
Tom: Hey, same here, Brad.
Ashley: Bye. (Door closes)

Tom: Well, you seem to have a whole slew of men hanging around you.
Ashley: Kinda seems that way, doesn't it?
Tom: Yeah.
Ashley: He's just a good friend.
Tom: Is that all?
Ashley: Mm-hmm. So what brings you by?
Tom: Well... I was, uh... I was thinkin' about... the other day at the club when I thought you were about to answer my cell phone.
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Tom: I just wanted to tell you again that I'm sorry.
Ashley: I already accepted your apology.
Tom: Yeah, I know you did, but I still don't feel right about it. I just wanted to make sure that things were okay between us.
Ashley: I'm surprised you're so concerned.
Tom: Well... I like you a lot, Ashley. And I respect you even more. And, uh... I would feel awful if... if I've messed things up between us and didn't give us a chance to really get to know each other.
Tom: So, uh, as a sort of token, I guess, of, uh, how sorry I am, I-I got you this.
Ashley: Oh, you shouldn't have done that, really.
Tom: Oh, I wanted to. Well, go on, take it. It's not gonna bite ya.
Ashley: (Chuckles) okay. Um... well, just so you know, you-- you didn't have to do this, okay? You really didn’t.
Tom: Yeah, well, I... I kinda felt like I did 'cause I really enjoy your company, and I would hate to think that I would be unwelcome in your home.

Ashley: It's really, really beautiful.
Tom: Well, I was thinking of you when I saw it, so I just had to get it.
Ashley: Well, thank you. I'm very touched by the sentiment.
Tom: Well, you're very welcome. So am I keeping you from anything?
Ashley: Uh, no. I was just catching up with some work. Things have been so crazy at the lab. You know, the phone keeps ringing off the hook, so...
Tom: Ah, so you got the place to yourself then, huh?
Ashley: For now.
Tom: Well, it must be nice. I imagine you really enjoy having, um, you know, a little private time.
Ashley: Yeah, I do. I mean, don't get me wrong. I could spend forever and a day with my father, but when Gloria’s here, it feels like a day is forever.
Tom: Hmm.
Ashley: So sometimes I need to just get away.
Tom: So I take it the two of you still aren't getting along too well.
Ashley: Well, better than we were.
Tom: Oh, really?
Ashley: Mm-hmm.
Tom: How'd that come about?
Ashley: (Sighs)
Ashley: My father and Gloria seem to be working through their problems. Even though I don't like her very much, who am I to tell my father how to live his life, right? So if he's happy, I'm happy.
Tom: And is he happy now?
Ashley: Seems to be.
Tom: Hmm, you don't seem to be.
Ashley: Well, it's a long story.
Tom: Well, I got time.
Ashley: Uh, not that long ago, um, my father and Gloria had this huge falling out.
Tom: Was this before he went into the hospital?
Ashley: Yeah, it was right before. She wasn't completely honest with him before she married him.
Tom: Huh, it had to have been something pretty big.
Ashley: Oh, yeah. I never thought they would reconcile, but now they're back to being husband and wife. Yippee.
Tom: And you're doing your best to be okay with that?
Ashley: Well, I just realized something. I don't really have a choice.
Tom: Ashley, you always have a choice, and you chose to put your daddy's best interest first. That's what a good daughter does.
Ashley: Well, I guess if he's happy, I'm happy.
Tom: Well, don't say it like that.
Ashley: Well...
Tom: I mean, sure, you're not crazy about this woman, but I mean, the fact that you would even consider setting your own feelings aside, that says a lot about the kind of person you are. I mean, I think about my kids, and I can't even imagine them ever, you know, looking out for me like that. Your dad is one lucky man.

Ashley: I hope your kids come around soon.
Tom: Well, I doubt that's gonna happen. We've been estranged for a pretty long time.

Tom: That's sweet of you to say that. Actually, I've made a lot of mistakes in my past, so I don't think we'll be patching things up anytime soon.
Ashley: Never say never.
Tom: Hey, you're right about that. You never do know where life will lead, right?
Ashley: You don't, mnh-mnh. (Doorbell rings)
Tom: Oh, are you expecting someone?
Ashley: No, I guess I'm just popular today.
Ashley: Hi!
Paul: Hey!
Ashley: When you'd get back into town?
Paul: Oh, a couple hours ago. How are you?
Ashley: Good.
Tom: Hey.
Paul: Tom, I didn't expect to see you here.
Tom: That makes two of us.
Ashley: Well, hi.
Paul: Hey.
Ashley: When did you get back into town?
Paul: Oh, just a couple of hours ago.
Ashley: Oh.
Tom: Hey.
Paul: Hi, Tom. I didn't expect to see you here.
Tom: Yeah, that makes two of us.
Ashley: Tom, you remember Paul.
Tom: Well, sure. We met at the club that time.
Paul: So have you been fishing lately?
Tom: Oh, Ashley told you about our little excursion, huh?
Paul: Sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Tom: It was.
Ashley: You should have seen me trying to fry up those smelt, tryin' to figure out what to do with those slippery little things.
Paul: A beautiful woman out of her element.
Ashley: Let's just say I'm glad there were no witnesses.
Tom: No, don't listen to her, Paul. She did just fine.
Paul: Ever been out on Lake Michigan?
Tom: You know, I haven't been out there in years. Went after salmon a couple of times, but you gotta have the right boat, though. I mean, those swells will kill you.
Paul: I can send you to a good charter if you're interested.
Tom: Well, that's kind of you, but, you know, I'm really not that big on it myself. I don't plan on going out again anytime soon. No, there's plenty of things I'd much rather be doing right here in Genoa City.
Paul: So, Tom, are you planning on staying in town for awhile?
Tom: For now.
Paul: What line of work are you in?
Tom: I do a little of this, a little of that.
Paul: Oh, I see. A Jack-of-all-trades.
Tom: Exactly. I'm always tryin' to learn somethin' new, though. You know, it keeps me on my toes.
Paul: Ashley says you have family in town.
Tom: Yeah, I do, but we're not very close.
Ashley: Would you please excuse Paul for being so nosy? He's a private detective. He can't help himself.
Tom: You're kiddin', right? I mean, nobody's really a private eye.
Paul: Yes, they are. In fact, you're lookin' at one. Paul Williams Investigations.
Tom: Damn. I guess I better watch what I say around you.
Paul: You don't have to watch what you say, Tom, assuming you have nothing to hide.
Tom: Hey, my life's an open book.
Paul: So you work with your hands?
Tom: Yeah, I'm a pretty fair carpenter. You ever need any work done...
Paul: So what did you do when you were back in-- where did you say you were from?
Ashley: Tom's from Michigan, Paul.
Tom: Oh, you remembered.
Paul: Where in Michigan?
Tom: You know, this interrogation has been a lot of fun, but, uh, it's time for me to go. It's been real nice seeing you again, though, Paul.
Paul: Likewise. I'm sure I'll catch you around town.
Tom: Oh, you just might.
Ashley: I'll be right back. All right, Tom.
Ashley: So thanks again for the beautiful necklace.
Tom: Oh, I'm glad you liked it. Listen, I'm gonna be over at the club later if you wanna come by and have a drink.
Ashley: Oh, I don't think I can.
Tom: No, no, just if you want to.
Ashley: Okay. Thanks again.
Tom: Okay. Bye.
Paul: Interesting guy.
Ashley: Yeah. You know, you can never have too many friends.
Paul: Is that what he is, a friend?
Ashley: Well, he's on his way to becoming one.
Paul: I wonder if Tom is aware he's traveling in the friend zone.
Ashley: What do you mean?
Paul: He likes you, Ashley. I get the feeling he likes you a lot.

Tom: Well, shucks, Michael, and here I thought you were gonna let me be your best man.
Tom: Why, not even a polite hello?
Kevin: What are you doing back in town?
Tom: Well, I never left, Kev. Well, didn't Michael tell you?
Michael: I'll handle this.
Kevin: No, no, no, no, no. Let me take care of this, Mikey. I have some things I wanna say.
Tom: What's the matter, boy? Aren't you happy to see me?
Kevin: I'm not afraid of you.
Tom: Well, good. There's no reason to be. I'm not here to cause trouble.
Kevin: Right. What do you want from us?
Tom: Oh, I just wanna sit down with my son and his big brother over there and get reacquainted.
Kevin: And why would we wanna to do that?
Tom: Well, like I told you before, we'll always be connected. You're a part of me, and I'm a part of you.
Kevin: I can't change that you're my father. That does not mean that I have to let you be a part of my life. There's nothing you can do to make up for all the years of misery that you caused. I will never forgive you and I will never forget.
Tom: Well, that's a damn shame. 'Cause people can change, you know.
Kevin: Hmm.
Tom: I mean, look at me.
Kevin: Yeah.
Tom: I'm not the same man I used to be.
Kevin: Well, you know, Tom Fisher, you're a cruel and miserable bastard. I wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire.
Tom: Watch your mouth, boy. I'm still your daddy.

Kevin: Yeah, well, you know what? As far as I'm concerned, you may as well be dead.
Tom: What did you just say to me?

Tom: You know what? You're not worth it.
Kevin: Why are you still here, hmm? Weren't you paid off to leave town? Why are you still here?
Tom: Well, you know, I thought about leavin', but I kind of like it here. Besides I surely wouldn't wanna miss out on Michael’s wedding.
Michael: (Chuckles) let me make this perfectly clear. You are not welcome at my wedding, nor are you welcome in this office, so now leave.
Tom: You know, do things really have to be so unpleasant between the three of us? Really, what's the point of all this hostility, huh?
Kevin: You. You're the point. You're the reason. You treated mom like garbage. You beat up on me. You locked me in a closet, remember? All--all I ever wanted was--was to be-- was to be his son, you know? To have a normal Dad like the other kids had, but you had no use for me. I was a burden to you.
Tom: Hey, you weren't exactly the easiest kid to get along with.
Kevin: Right. Back then, you know, I didn't understand. I thought it was because I did something wrong, but now--now I know that it's just because of you, because you're a creep. Well, guess what. I'm not afraid of you anymore. Yeah, 'cause deep down, under all of the layers of garbage that I had to build up to protect myself, I know that I'm a better person than you.
Tom: Well, that was quite a speech there, Kev.
Michael: (Laughs) I hope you were listening. Kevin's come a long way since he lived with you in Detroit, and if you think you can waltz into town and drag him back down into the gutter with you, think again.
Tom: I've been put on notice. Kevin, son, do you think you could possibly please excuse yourself so Michael and I could talk alone?
Kevin: Well, Dad, I'd be happy to, but it's all dependent on whether or not that's okay with Michael.
Michael: Yeah.
Kevin: I'll be down the hall.

Michael: (Chuckles) oh, what do you want? Money? That well's run dry.
Tom: No, never mind the money... for a minute. I wanna talk about your mother.

Tom: I've been doin' a little digging into her new marriage with John Abbott, and I get the impression that she and the rich husband are not on very stable ground.
Michael: Well, what could that possibly matter to you? You walked out on her years ago, not that she shouldn't have thrown you out a long time before that.
Tom: Well, I'm just hoping your mama realizes how shaky her marriage really is.
Michael: What are you talkin' about?
Tom: Well, a whole boatload of things could blow her right out of the water, don't you think? I mean, I know one thing in particular... would be a regular atom bomb.

Michael: You are so full of it.
Tom: What, you think I'm pulling your chain? We both know Gloria’s marriage is on shaky ground.
Michael: And... you've got something to blow it to smithereens?
Tom: You got that right.
Michael: Okay, fine, all right, I'll bite. What is it?
Tom: Why would I ever tell you?
Michael: Why? Because you're on my turf now. So start talking.
Tom: So this is your turf, huh?
Michael: Yes. I gave you $10,000 to get off it, remember? What did you do with all that money?
Tom: Oh, I put it to good use. Yeah, I even had a little left over to buy a nice gift for a friend.
Michael: Right. As if anyone would befriend the likes of you.
Tom: You really oughta be nicer to me, Mike, seeing as how Gloria’s entire future is in my hands.
Michael: What's with all the threats, Fisher? You have something on my mother? Tell her. Why are you telling me?
Tom: Oh, I intend to tell her. I'm just, uh... just waiting for the right time.
Michael: She hasn't seen you in years. You're dead to her.
Tom: Well, won't she surprised when I show up on her doorstep?
Michael: You stay away from her, you hear me?
Tom: Oh, it's gonna be hard to do now that I know where she lives. Oh, yeah, I've even been out to the Abbotts'-- swanky, beautiful home, a lot of nice things. Man, it would be a real shame for Gloria to lose all that.
Michael: If you lay a finger on Gloria, I swear you will live to regret it.
Tom: Oh, relax. If I wanted to hurt your mother, I would've done it by now. But I know how happy she is with John Abbott. In fact, I saw 'em at the club earlier, they looked like--
Michael: All right, what's your point?
Tom: That I'm happy for her. I've always wanted your mother to be happy.
Michael: What are you up to? Why are you hanging around? If you haven't gone to see Gloria, what are you waiting for?
Tom: Did somebody say I was waiting?
Michael: Ah, of course. You're waiting for her marriage to get back on solid footing. That's when you're gonna make your move. That's why you've been spying on Gloria. You want something from her. And you're gonna blackmail her with this little bomb you've got.
Tom: You know why I never liked you? You were always such a know-it-all.
Michael: I'm not gonna let you destroy her life.
Tom: Did you hear what I said? I just told you, I want her to stay happy. You can't argue with that.
Kevin: What are you still doing here?
Tom: I'll let your mama explain it to ya. Bye, boys.
Kevin: We have to stop him, Michael. If he gets to Mom, it's all over.

Tom: Well, fancy meeting you here.
Ashley: Hey, you.
Tom: I hope I'm not late.
Ashley: Oh, did we set a time?
Tom: No, I was just hoping you'd show up.
Ashley: And I did. Guess who I ran into.
Tom: Who?
Ashley: Lauren Fenmore.
Tom: Why does that name sound familiar?
Ashley: Well, she owns a chain of department stores.
Tom: Oh, that Lauren Fenmore.
Ashley: Yeah, and she also owns the boutique that you bought this necklace at. She recognized it right away. She thought you had impeccable taste.
Tom: Oh, well, as I recall, so does she. Not that often you come across a woman that beautiful and sophisticated. I mean, not that she can hold a candle to you, of course.
Ashley: Oh...
Tom: Hey... I'm not trying to flatter you. I really think you're something special. And I hope you do, too. I mean, feel the same way about me.
Ashley: You just don't quit, do ya?
Tom: What, with a woman like you? No, you wouldn't believe how far I'd go. Uh, your necklace is a little askew.
Ashley: Oh.
Tom: Yeah, that's better.

Tom: Hey, hey, hey, hold on there, Ms. Abbott. I wanna know what you think of motorcycles.
Ashley: Oh, boy, fun! Um, scary, exciting, all those things.
Tom: Kind of plays havoc with your hair, though.
Ashley: That's okay. It was worth it. Wanna come inside for a drink?
Tom: Uh... no, I really oughta get going.
Ashley: Come on, just one.
Tom: Well, what about your-- your dad and his new wife?
Ashley: What about 'em?
Tom: Well, I know you don't wanna get into introductions and all that.
Ashley: Oh, that's okay. My dad's at the office anyway. And Gloria's helping her son's fiancée find a caterer. And then my dad and Gloria are gonna have dinner, so they're not gonna be around for awhile.
Tom: Well, in that case, for a few minutes.
Ashley: Good, come on in.

Ashley: Don't drop it.
Tom: Ha.
Ashley: It's very valuable, actually. My father's had that for as long as I can remember.
Tom: Ah, thanks.
Ashley: You're welcome.
Tom: So are you recovered from our ride?
Ashley: Barely. I can understand why people who have motorcycles get attached to them.
Tom: You stick with me, I'll show you a lot of fun stuff like that.
Ashley: Yeah? I look forward to it.
Tom: What do we drink to?
Ashley: Hmm. Too late. You choose.
Tom: How about, um... new adventures?
Ashley: Okay, I like the sound of that. Cheers.
Tom: Cheers.
Tom: What? Do I got food in my teeth or something?
Ashley: (Chuckles) I don't mean to make you feel self-conscious. I'm just trying to figure you out.
Tom: Well, what's to figure? You know, what you see is what you get.
Ashley: Mm-hmm. Everybody has secrets.
Tom: Hmm. Why don't you tell me one of yours?
Ashley: One of mine?
Tom: Yeah.
Ashley: Okay, then you have to tell me one of yours.
Tom: I guess that seems fair. But you go first.
Ashley: Okay. Um... technically, I'm still married. How about that for a secret? Brad and I are not officially divorced.
Tom: Why not?
Ashley: Well, we just never got around to it. You know, and, um... since we're not that anxious to get seriously involved with anybody right now...
Tom: Gee, that's too bad.
Ashley: (Chuckles) so? What's your secret?
Tom: I was married once. But, uh, it ended badly. That was years ago. Besides, I mean, if you... you know, if you don't experience pain, how can you know what pleasure is?

Ashley: That was very eloquent.
Tom: Does that mean you'll allow me to meet your dad?
Ashley: Um, actually, I thought I might start, um, with having dinner with some friends.
Tom: Oh, I see. I gotta meet their approval first, huh?
Ashley: No, you don't. I just thought it might be nice for you, since you're new in town, to meet some new people.
Tom: Well, I guess that's a good sign. You want me to meet your friends. This'll just be casual though, right?
Ashley: Yeah. Absolutely.
Tom: You think they'll be surprised when they meet me?
Ashley: Um, I think they would be surprised if we showed up on a motorcycle in leathers.
Tom: Yeah.
Ashley: What do you think?
Tom: I think you're gonna get hooked on that.
Ashley: I don't know.
Tom: And I knew you would if you just gave it a chance. Who knows? I may end up buying you one someday.
Ashley: Oh, I think I feel a whole lot safer just kind of holding on to you.
Tom: Anytime.
Ashley: Um...
Tom: I will call you.
Ashley: Okay.
Tom: Okay. And, uh... thanks for the drink.
Ashley: Sure. I'll--I'll set up the dinner.
Tom: Okay. That sounds good. Uh, hey, you want me to leave one of these helmets here for you?
Ashley: That's okay. You could take 'em.
Tom: Okay.
Ashley: See you later.
Tom: I'll see you.
